Blog#5 Feedback from WP#3 Review Essay

Updated: Dec 7, 2021

My topic for my Review Essay was on the movie SOUL (2020 Film) and in class we were assigned groups to have read our essay so we can gain some feedback on what needed to be fixed or any type of help that guide us through this writing project. Sadly, I wasn't prepared for this day, though I did get m essay revised and I like to share my feedback.

The points I have gotten from my essay was to stay on point and I have a tendency to go all over the place when it comes to writing, especially when I am in my zone and everything comes to me, it's like word vomit and I have to get it all down. Another point I got was to stay away from run on sentences. I think if I was more aware of what I was writing while in my zone, I would have been more careful with my punctuation, which my sentences would have made better sense. Stating facts and trying to stay away from opinions until my facts are stated will also help me get better at my review essay.

I felt like I had stayed on task within my essay, then I notice that there are points that need attention that could be enhanced to make my essay better.

My strengths I have in all my essay's is to find some great research and put that into my own terms of knowledge of what lectures that were taught in class. I usually try my best to abide by the rubric.

Improvements I need to make are to learn to stay on focal point when writing any type of essay. Learn to have a better understanding of DIDLS, I think I can improve that just as much as I had improved my Rhetorical Appeals. Also, to learn to have a works cited page, I am having a better understanding that our writing projects need to be citied of where our work came from and that there is no plagiarism involved.

My plan for myself is to learn how to stay on point with myself, not to give up on my writing, especially when I have writers block. I need to learn a better coping mechanism that will help with that. I want to be able to have good starting points, such as a great thesis, transitional sentences, and learn to be able work cite my work better. Have better understanding on Rhetorical Appeals, SOAPS, DIDLS and reading techniques.
